Trailblazer
I love working with people who genuinely care about making the law simpler for the organisations that need to comply with it.
It’s been said that every New Zealander knows at least 1 person from Waimate. Now you know 2. Jackie grew up in the deep south town alongside three brothers and as such, knows a ruck from a maul, can drive a boat and doesn’t take offence when a coach yells, “you’re playing like a bunch of girls!”
Jackie studied law and English literature at the University of Canterbury. She began her legal career in Rotorua, before heading to London to work for 2 large London councils.
Jackie joined ComplyWith early on, working from a desk in her lounge while raising her children, and was the company’s second-ever employee after the famous Nick Brook. Since then, she’s worked closely with founder David Woodnorth to help build ComplyWith into what it is today. Along the way, she prepared much of the early local government compliance content, established and led the Content Team, and now serves as Chief Operating Officer.
As COO, Jackie leads the Content, Customer Experience, and Business Support teams, balancing strategic improvements with making sure day-to-day operations run smoothly. She enjoys working closely with both teams and customers and is particularly motivated by the impact ComplyWith has in helping organisations navigate complex legal requirements with confidence.
Outside of work, she’s an “active relaxer” who is rarely sitting still. You’ll find her hiking, walking, doing pilates, mountain biking, or out on the water attempting to master water skiing. She’s completed a number of multi-day hikes, including the Routeburn and Abel Tasman, with the Milford Track next on the list. She also loves travelling, preferably with a physical challenge involved, good chocolate, and spending time with her family whenever everyone is back together.
When she’s not tracking laws, she’s out on a track somewhere - walking, hiking, and never sitting still for long.
